As a large makerspace, we get volunteers and visitors from all walks of life, but it's not every day that one of them sticks around to become family! Quick with a joke and always ready to collaborate, our Workshop Processes Facilitator sports an Irish accent and a witty charm that can’t be denied. Between organizing shop programming and taking charge of the shop supplies store, you'll catch her on the back dock tending to her plants.
Q: Why do you do what you do?
R: The Idea Foundry has a way of becoming very personal. From when I started as a helper to being employed full time, not much has changed. From the start, I felt that I was given the opportunity to belong, to be an important part of, to help, to grow and to learn from the Idea Foundry. You get as much as you put back into it. It's more than just a job and that's why I do what I do - everything I can - to help continue my Idea Foundry.
Q: What's the best advice you've ever received?
R: To go big or go home. You either try something with everything you've got, or walk away entirely from it. A friend told me this when I was trying to decide an important life decision and that pretty much settled it for me - I went big.
Q: Tell us something you are proud of...
R: My family and friends. I really did a good job there.
Q: List 5 things you LOVE
- The ocean
- Talking Heads - This Must Be The Place
- Underdog stories
- Salt & Vinegar Chips
- Late night chats with good friends
Q: What do you want to be when you grow up?
R: A Renaissance man
