The Idea Foundry supports inclusivity and empowerment for makers of all kinds. It’s not uncommon to find women working in traditionally male arenas like the woodshop and blacksmith shop. Our own staff is largely made up of influential and talented women.
Rachel Schutt is yet another independent female artist to join the ranks of the Idea Foundry. She has taken on the role of Metal Shop Instructor with enthusiasm and pride. Her traditional skills in metal fabrication from the Columbus College of Art and Design lay the groundwork for many of her welding and sheet metal classes. She is at her best melting, shaping and forming functional works of art from molten metal.
Don’t hesitate to rely on her expertise! She is happy to help you get started or explore the finer points of advanced welding techniques. When her mask isn’t down, she is planning another engaging metal class or working on a Tips & Tricks video. Learn a little more about Rachel right here:
WHY DO YOU DO WHAT YOU DO?
I love melting metal! I was initially introduced to metal fabrication at Columbus College of Art and Design, and I found Idea Foundry three years after graduating by searching for a place to continue building my skills in welding.
