The Drone Effect
Will Nickley of Safety Third Racing aims to “[inspire] the next generation of thinkers and dreamers through interactive aero-robotics programming at the Idea Foundry.” In everyday terms - he builds, races and teaches classes about drones, specifically First Person View (FVP) racing drones. At any given time you can catch Will at Idea Foundry, 3D printing his newly improved drone frames or designing his next drone flight class.

Virtual Reality in Health Care
Robert Strouse and his team at Nationwide Children's Hospital set out to create a truly unique and engaging experience for their patience to help with pain management and comfort. Voxel Bay is a virtual reality ecosystem aimed at engaging patients with a completely immersive experience to distract them during painful or intravenous medical procedures. Using targeted games and experiences to provide unique and fun interactions Voxel Bay is redefining the patient experience.

New Bronze Casting Foundry
Our new propane gas-line driven bronze casting foundry reaches temps of more than 2000-degrees Fahrenheit. Complete with a burnout kiln to process lost-wax moulds, our casting crew now has the capacity to cast bronze in 60-pound increments. There's no limit on the size of finished creations--even life-sized pieces can be separated into segments and welded together. The casting team will be able to help every step of the way: if you can sculpt it, we can now cast it!

From Metal Shop to Mad Max
Makerspaces are great resources for Makers of many creative disciplines--with all the tools and tech and creative folks, it's hard not to find something interesting. But for one student, it was the sounds of the shop caught his hear.Walking into the shop these days, and you'll probably hear a veritable din of activity--from renovation construction, to the hum of tools, the laser exhaust, pounding of hand tools, the beat and grind of metal. Music to a sound designer's ears.
