The Idea Foundry is more than a makerspace. It is a place where people can build their futures whether that's in wood, electronics, or service. In February of 2017, we opened our newly renovated 2nd floor to our first ever coworkers and further expanded what it means to be a maker. As this new portion of our community grows, we welcome the diversity it brings. Everyone from artists to lawyers and electrical engineers belong here.

Kevin Zyskowski and his team believed in our quirky coworking space before renovations had even started on the 2nd floor.  His team, Compass Experience Labs LLC was floating between temporary works spaces when he met Alex Bandar and learned about our upcoming space.  Here is how Kevin describes his journey with the Idea Foundry.

WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO THE IDEAFOUNDRY?

We were looking for a place to work out of that offered more structure and consistency than a coffee shop and didn't feel weird.  We were working out of the main public library for a few weeks and offices of friends. Lucky enough we met Alex and he showed us around the foundry which at the time only consisted of the lower level, the construction upstairs hadn't really started, but Alex clearly painted the vision for us and we were sold.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF WORKING/LIVING IN COLUMBUS?

Favorite part of working/living in Columbus is definitely the people. Columbus is full of smart, hard-working nice people, and unlike Cleveland where I am from there are a lot of people who moved here maybe for school or work, and that makes a difference. People come together with different experiences and are looking to make relationships.

IF YOU COULD HAVE DINNER WITH ANY ONE PERSON WHO WOULD IT BE?

Well, that would have to be Jesus, maybe this is because I am a product of a Catholic school but ever since I have been a kid I have had this response to this question. As an adult, my answer remains the same even if the reasons have changed. Today it is not so much about what kind of cool miracle he could do, rather I would be interested in knowing what kind of person would he be today, what type of crowd would he spend his time with, how would he try and impact people and spread his vision in today's world and what would he think of today's world. It would also be fascinating to watch people's response to him today.

WHAT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR COMPANY WOULD YOU LIKE THE IDEA FOUNDRY COMMUNITY TO KNOW?

My company Compass Labs provides end to end customer experience consulting and service across multiple channels (online chat, email, text, phones) for e-commerce brands.  We are unique in our space because of our deep e-commerce experience, and because we provide our clients with a true extension of their brand collaborating to help grow the brand together. We have clients where their entire service department is outsourced to us, and we have others that have a core group at HQ but scale with us.   We have clients who are just starting out but need us for our expertise and so that they can focus on their brand and their product and we have customers who we have grown along with the last few years that are selling a few million in product each month!
