In this TWO EVENING class, you will get an opportunity to develop your woodshop skills and use the tools in the shop to create a truly functional work of art in wood!
This is a Level 2 course. Some recent experience with woodworking projects is needed.
Joinery is a fundamental skill in woodworking that involves using different methods to join pieces of wood together to build more complex items. It is the essential part of many simple projects like boxes and picture frames as well as more advanced projects such as cabinetry and furniture making.
In this hands-on class, you will learn new skills and the techniques necessary to make precision miter and splined miter joints on the table saw and the router table. We will cover the various common miter joints and will introduce the construction and use of simple jigs for both tools to get repeatable results.
Other topics will be covered and include tips and tricks for measuring and marking, tool setup, gluing, clamping, sanding, and finishing. All designed to sharpen your skills and confidence for that next project.
This class is held on 2 consecutive nights and each student will take home a completely finished lift lid box. This class is suitable for students who already have a basic working knowledge of woodshop skills.
This class is held on 2 consecutive nights with the date you are registering for being the first night and the second evening if the following night.
For example, registering for Monday, January 22nd also registers you for the second evening of the class on Tuesday, January 23rd.
