Beginner Wood Carving: Chip Carving

Learn to carve intricate designs using centuries-old techniques on your own wood projects in this two evening class.

Participants 

An introduction to chip carving, a decorative art in use since the 1500's. Designs can be placed on furniture, boxes, plates, bowls or spoons. Commemorative plates or plaques can also include wording or free style animals or flowers.

The class introduces basic chip styles, knife selection, and care, project finishing. The projects will be simple decorative pieces which utilize different techniques.

This class is a two night class:

This class occurs on Wednesday, February 20th 6.30 - 9.30pm  and Thursday, February 21st from 6:30 - 9:30pm

Requirements:

Please bring a mechanical pencil and a 12-inch ruler for the best experience (and to work on your project outside of class, if needed).

Chris has been a woodcarver for approximately 15 years, carving commemorative plates, boxes, trays, and plaques. In addition to chip carving, he has also carved Santas, walking sticks, bowls, and spoons.
