Ladies Intro to MIG welding & plasma cutting: - Butterfly

Using properly cleaned scrap metal, ladies will learn how to use the plasma torch for cutting shapes (wing template provided) out of scrap steel and MIG(Metal Inert Gas) weld the pieces to create a sculptural butterfly. Students will also learn how to smooth edges using a sanding belt/grinder.

All materials will be provided and students are welcome to bring their own instructor-approved materials.

Butterfly will measure roughly 9” tall and 10” from wing to antennae.

No experience is needed to take this class. Completion of this orientation-level class will enable current CIF members to use the shop MIG welders & plasma torch. Please remember to wear closed-toed shoes, and natural fiber clothing (cotton, denim, linen).  Long pants and long sleeves provide the best protection.  Please note that if you do not dress appropriately for this class you may not be able to fully participate and you will not receive a credit or refund.
